Why Nosemonkey is still wrong

Having done this topic to death more or less everywhere, and managed even to get Jarndyce, of all people, to agree that Nosemonkey needs a good kicking, we finally get a convincing rebuttal of his main thesis.

The format - "what would the Grauniad say" - is slightly tired, but it works. I recommend that you read it in full.

He certainly exploded his opponents' arguments.

Even me? Explain.

Not sure about the post you link, though. He seems equally sure the other way, which is just as preposterous IMHO.

Aye, it does seem fairly ambivalent.

Jarndyce,

By "even you", I meant "someone as scrupulously fair, even-handed and intellectually honest as yourself."

And I agree that to go so far the other way is equally preposterous, but I don't think that was his purpose: I read it as a plausible pastiche: this is what would have been written by the hand-wringers in that event, rather than as a direct support of the bombing itself.

I'll take that as a compliment - certainly beats "commie shit", "Tory loon", and "useful idiot", which make up the last couple of months' stream of abuse sent my way.

[and IMHO you're being a touch charitable in your reading of the (quite funny in parts) parody, though I'm going on holiday in about three hours so best not to start another ruck-ette with you, eh?]
