Holiday Reports (1)

That nice Mr McGuinness gave some excellent advice following my post on the problems of packing to go on holiday.
Do not pack a live squirrel. You probably won't have any call for it.
Whilst I would normally be, shall we say, circumspect regarding the suggestions, even if freely offered, from a man who took the lyrics of 50 cent sufficiently literally to "tickle his bollocks", on this occasion he could not have been closer to the mark. The one thing I did not need was a squirrel: they were in generous abundance.

You're lucky to find a red one to photograph.

ML,

Hello again. I trust you had a pleasant Easter break.

Red Squirrels are still quite common north of the River Tay so not so much lucky as in the right place.

Your general sentiment, however, is correct. Reds do not last long when the greys arrive. It is largely because I am aware of this sad fact, and that the greys are only 30 or 40 miles away on the other side of the Tay, that I wanted to get this photo on the record.

More importantly of course, Reds are extremely shy: to get this close to one, in the right light, at the right angle and with a charged up camera with plenty of space on the flash card was too good an opportunity to miss. Hence the hi-res version shown here.

But why is it sucking a paracetamol caplet? Does it want liver trouble?

Dearieme:

I think that you will find:
1) that is a tab of superglue
2) the squirrel is sniffing it, not licking it.

If you had to live next door to my parents, you probably would too....
