This is totally off-topic - In fact it would probably be apt to screen this comment: But do you know ae man named Stewart Kirkpatrick - personally?

He linked to your site from his "Panda Assassin" blog (I'm to tired and stuffed-up to link to it) and I just wondered. He's of the Socialist persuasion himself (personally, I tend to swing both ways in my political orientations) and I was wondering - Have you tried to teach him about the Economy?

I have.

But I'm still trying to reach the general idea in my own head that the prosperity (not just financial) of the nation as a whole, in the long run (remember the miners getting their feathers ruffled about being put out of jobs that weren't needed?) is worth more than the economy. Even if the former does tend to rely on the latter. You get some right-of-centre folks who value the economy of humanity.

And most Socialists don't grasp the simple fact that prosperity tends to rely on the economy - and that human nature - like it or lump it - tends towards capitalism. Still some Scandanavian countries are practically Socialist (taxes are criminal and they have extensive niceties from the state). But I doubt it would work here.

To the point - I have/had a bit of a crush on our man. I've never met him. I read his scotsman.com column and blogs. I'm sad. Very sad.

Can you believe, he's totally ignored my most well-meaning and sincere comments?

OK, OK, I experienced the whole "crush" thing for a few weeks and bombarded him with emails and such like. I was also rather audacious in my approach... *blushes in shame* But it still annoys me.

I don't suppose you could give me a wee whisper in the ear of: "Psst... he's a married man!" or "he told me about you. You're the loon teenager who wouldn't stop vocalising how besotted by him you were," or summat.

I'm just curious. He's been rather taciturn, you see. The "crush" thing is quickly fizzling out, but I'm just dead curious.

Ask anyone. I usually ask a thousand questions after being told something. I twitch when I don't know these things.

But, if you get the chance, and it's appropriate - put in a good word for me... ;-)
